La noche más importante de Hollywood fue animado con el comediante y presentador Jimmy Kimmel como anfitrión, este domingo 12 de marzo, en esta ocasión en el Teatro Dolby, en la cuna del cine en Estados Unidos, Los Ángeles. El público seguidor de este arte, tenían sus predicciones sobre los resultados, sin embargo, la academia sorprendió con ciertas categorías.
Brendan Fraser y Ke Huy Quan, fueron los más elogiados en sus categorías respectivas, eran los nominados favoritos, y no solo por su trabajo frente a la pantalla. Ambos tienen una historia de redención, y haber ganado este premio marca un triunfal regreso a sus carreras actorales. Brendan obtuvo el galardón de Mejor Actor Principal por su papel de Charlie en “La Ballena”, mientras que Ke fue galardonado por su interpretación en la cinta ganadora de la noche, Eveything Everywhere All at Once.
Michelle Yeoh se llevó la estatuilla dorada como Mejor Actriz Principal. Yeoh ya había ganado el Globo de Oro, por lo que este resultado era esperado. Mientras que, en la categoría de Mejor Actriz de Reparto, se lo llevó la actriz veterana conocida por la franquicia de terror, Halloween, Jamie Lee Curtis, que marca su primer Oscar a lo largo de su carrera.
Everything Everywhere All at Once, fue la cinta más premiada de la ceremonia, con siete estatuillas. Cuatro de estas en las categorías principales de Mejor Actriz, Mejor Director, Mejor Guion Original y, la más importante de la noche, Mejor Película. Entre las sorpresas de la noche, estuvo el hecho que cintas como los Fabelmans y Thr Banshees of Inisherin, no se llevaron a casa ningún galardón.
